Samsung’s One UI 9, built on Android 17, is now available for the Galaxy S25, Galaxy Z Fold 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7. The update initially launched in South Korea and has since expanded to the United States as of October 2nd.
Global Expansion
As of October 6th, the stable One UI 9 update is available for Galaxy S25 series devices in Europe. Firmware version S93xBXXUCDZIF applies to the S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. Users who participated in the Beta Program are receiving a smaller, approximately 550MB update. General public rollout includes a larger download of over 3GB.
Update Details
The Galaxy S25 series receives firmware version DZIF, while the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 use CZIH. The software brings new features including My FanCam which tracks subjects in videos, updates to Now Brief, Call Brief, and Creative Studio.
Checking for Updates
Users can manually check for the update by navigating to Settings > Software update > Check for updates. Samsung recommends ensuring at least a 30% battery charge and backing up important data before installation. The rollout is expanding to carrier-locked US models first, with unlocked versions expected soon.
Galaxy S23 Considerations
The One UI 9 update marks the final major OS upgrade for the Galaxy S23 series. Some users report performance issues with previous updates (One UI 7 and 8) and are approaching this update cautiously. The new AI Network Guard feature in One UI 9 offers a more aggressive approach to limiting app usage, potentially helping curb excessive screen time.
